So i've shipped myself off to Gibraltar Point on the Toronto Island to paint for 2 months. i got a huge studio that i got to take advantage of. I'm not only gonna take on more paintings but i'm gonna paint bigger and looser, and no naked girls allowed!

Me and a bunch of other talented ladies will be part of Bitch Slap this weekend, an all girl art show curated by Derek "the Buzzard" Mainella. Opening reception is this Friday, November 19th from 7 till sometime late. And the next day is my birthday, so come out and celebrate with me! The opening already happened (i neglect my site sometimes, but did post about it at fuzzyladies) But if in Toronto please stop by and have a look, it's a got a great line-up and from what i've seen the show does not disappoint. My good friends Sandra and Joey just opened a bar and asked for some art to decorate their walls. They wanted some sketches, like my preliminaries from my latest series "Ferine". I thought it was best if i just drew up some new images, or variations on the sketches because most of my preliminaries are pretty ruff looking- full of scribbled page numbers and words, along with some Doritos dust, not something you want to frame. So these are what i came up with. They look kind of crappy on here, you should go have a drink and see them in person at Camp 4 (1173 Dundas W.)

i did this back in 2005, part of my criminal animal series that disappeared.
i got my good friend Amanda to pose for me in her red pajama onesie (that she got from Honest Ed's for just 99 cents!) that i transformed into some sort of sailor suit.
i never did get a very good photo of this painting, don't mind the glare.

My answers are kind of long and i blabber on, i had just finished painting my series so my head was a bit of a mess, hence a lot of the spelling mistakes and such. And i'd also like to mention that they took out my comment about hating Ellen DeGeneres, i guess NOW wont put up with any of that hate slander, but i'll say it here cause they can't do anything about that, ha!

So it came and went...
The opening for my latest series "Ferine" at the Christopher Cutts Gallery was last Friday March 12th, with Xiao Guo Hui's: "The Little Pleasures of Life" in the other gallery.
Thanks to everyone who showed up regardless of that horrible weather.
Thanks to all my friends who brought me flowers, wine, and cupcakes, that was a nice touch, you guys are the best!
I was really just glad to see you all there.
And to those of you who couldn't make it, just go to the show before it's down by April 7th, and i won't hold a grudge.
Also, the best people i know, Pratha and Saty, made a special post for my show on their site and put up some pics from the opening, so check it out!

So the day has almost arrived, i've been painting like a a madman for the last two months trying to get this series done. Today will be my last day of painting (for this series), just some grasses and twigs to go, I can't wait. And then finally this Friday will be the opening for "Ferine" at the Christopher Cutts Gallery
My wonderful friend Pratha made up a facebook event page for me, I'm not on facebook, i don't really know how it works, but it was sweet of her to do it for me. So go do the invite thingy, some new work is posted on there too and come to the show and see them in real life.

I was hunting for animal head images and this is what i brought back. My show is coming up in March and i still don't know what it is about, where it really came from. I never really intended it to be a series, yet, here i am... it has been my whole life for the past few months.
I usually don't know what the hell my paintings are about until well after they're all done and then everything comes pouring out and i see so much in them. As of yet, i have nothing, but the hunt is still fun.

I paint the animals which i like, plain and simple. but after painting these little guys, which work out to be close to an hour each, you start to kind of hate them. i hate opossums, for now and probably for a while until i'm done this series. and the girl is kinda looking like Mark Ruffalo right now... i dont know how well this one is actually going come to think of it.

Criminal Tale

I did these paintings back in 2005. These photos are of unfinished pieces because i never got them properly documented because they were STOLEN before i could get the chance to.

A Mr. Dorland put them up in the display cases at OCAD, the only case that didn't have a lock and when they disappeared he took no responsibility and offered no help, just exclaiming "i'm sure they'll turn up", well they never did! Some jerk out there has them and all my hard work is gone. I'm well aware of how low people could be but i still can't get over the fact that somebody stole my paintings.
It's funny too cause the pieces had to do with criminals. They were exemplified by the negative characteristics associated with the animals; the pig was a murderer, the fox an arsonist, the hyena a grave robber. I wish i could see who stole my paintings so i could complete my series off with a lowly thief, i'd paint him riding on a log of shit.

Animal Head Series

I started this series with the cat one after seeing an illustration for a Poe tale, the Black Cat. It had this black cat sitting atop someone's head and i couldn't tell if the cat was actually part of the hair or just sitting on their head. Either way it was an image that stayed in my mind for a while and drove me to do this one painting which has now turned into a full-on series that has carried on throughout the year. I'm aiming for 10, maybe more, i guess whatever i could get done by March for my show.
